Malvern School District is honored to recognize Debbie Hobbs, who is one of our five National Board Certified Teachers. She is currently celebrating her 38th year in education. After dedicating fourteen years to teaching Spanish and English, Mrs. Hobbs transitioned to counseling, earning her Masters of Science in Education in Secondary School Counseling in 1999. She officially embarked on her counseling career in 2000. Reflecting on her journey, Mrs. Hobbs shares, "Becoming a school counselor was the best career decision I ever made. I absolutely love interacting with the students one on one versus a whole classroom. It is very rewarding when I can see a change in a student's academics or attitude." Mrs. Hobbs initiated her National Board Certification pursuit in School Counseling/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood in 2004 and successfully achieved certification in 2005. Demonstrating her commitment to excellence, she renewed her certification in 2015. Speaking about the National Board process, she emphasizes, "The National Board process was exactly what I needed as a beginning school counselor. It broadened my scope of knowledge in all eleven of the National Board School Counseling Standards. I learned to work as a leader and advocate to promote student learning and achievement and how to collaborate and network with other stakeholders." We extend our appreciation to Mrs. Hobbs for her enduring dedication to education and her impactful role in shaping the lives of students at Malvern School District!

Malvern High School's Isabella Roseberry signed her Letter of Intent to play Softball for Ouachita Baptist University today, Monday, November 13. Roseberry has played softball since she was 7 years old, and her hard work is being rewarded! She been a 3-year starter in softball, and has been the starting catcher for the team. Roseberry was awarded all conference honorable mention her freshman year and all district her junior year. She was also asked to play in the AHSFCA showcase in Conway after her junior year. She has travel hundreds of miles during the summer and fall time playing with her travel team playing some of the best teams around bettering herself for college. She made all district last year, during her junior year, and she hit over .380. She has also thrown out over 60% of runners trying to steal bases, a wonderful statistic for a catcher. Coach Darryl Baker was proud to say that she helped lead the team to their Conference Championship last year, and she also helped lead our MHS Softball team to be in the Elite 8 in softball for the past 3 years. Our conference here is a tough one, as three of the top eight teams in the state are a part of it. Roseberry has participated in the state tournament all three years she’s been on the team. Her coaches have considered her one of best catchers in the state, and say she would also make a great infielder. Her investment in this sport is obvious, as she also takes pitching lessons when she's not on the field for the school's team! She projects to be a catcher or second baseman when she gets to the OBU fields. We are so thankful and impressed with her and all of the hard work she invests in her team. She is a wonderful asset to Leopards Softball, and we are so happy to see her chasing her dreams and seizing the day. Congratulations, Isabella! We are oh so proud of you!
