🎓 We have a wonderful announcement about a beautiful legacy from our Leopard Family!
We recently received a heartfelt message from Julia A. Bailey Dulan, daughter of Edward and Henrietta Bailey--two remarkable educators who devoted their lives to the students of Malvern, Arkansas. Julia and her husband Michael have committed $50,000 to the University of Arkansas Land of Opportunity Scholarship in honor of her parents (who our Malvern High School auditorium is named after!), and we are so moved to share this story with our community.
Edward Bailey Sr. served as principal of Annie Agnes Wilson High School for 18 years before serving as assistant principal of Malvern High School until his passing in 1976. Henrietta Bailey taught, counseled, and poured herself into Malvern students for 40 years before retiring in 1981. Their combined legacy of service to education in this community is extraordinary.

📅 Attention Leopard Family! We wanted to share an important calendar update following last Friday's school closure due to inclement weather.
The make-Up day for Friday, August 21, 2026 will be held on Friday, February 12, 2027. Please make note of this on your calendars!
We are so grateful that our community stayed safe and that damage to our facilities was minor. A huge thank you to our incredible maintenance team who went straight to work to ensure a safe return for our students, and to our Chartwells staff who worked quickly to make sure our kids would have food ready to go on Monday morning.
These important people in our community made sure that we were able to have a smooth opening today!
We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to the Entergy crews who worked 48 hours straight to restore power and clear the roads for safe bus travel. That kind of dedication does not go unnoticed and we are so thankful for them!
If you see a Malvern School District maintenance team member, a Chartwells employee, or an Entergy crew member this week, please take a moment to thank them.

Leopard Family, we have some very important news to share with you all.
We are heartbroken to share the passing of one of our own.
Myles Ilan Tatum, a beloved 9-year-old student at Malvern Elementary School, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026. Myles was a bright and curious scholar who loved the periodic table, geography, multiplication, linguistics, and music. He was devoted to learning both the piano and cello, and his love for life touched everyone around him.
Myles was more than a student — he was a light. His laughter, his curiosity, and his kind spirit made him unforgettable to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his teachers, his classmates, and our entire Leopard Family.
Please keep his parents Marcus and Sasha, his siblings, and his entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Recently, Marke'la and her parents Mark and Nicole Hughes attended the Arkansas Rural Education Foundation scholarship presentation at Lakeside High School, where Marke'la was honored with a $1,000 renewable scholarship that is renewable for two years!
Marke'la will be heading to ASU Three Rivers this fall to study nursing, and we have no doubt she is going to do incredible things!

Recently, Marke'la and her parents Mark and Nicole Hughes attended the Arkansas Rural Education Foundation scholarship presentation at Lakeside High School, where Marke'la was honored with a $1,000 renewable scholarship that is renewable for two years!
Marke'la will be heading to ASU Three Rivers this fall to study nursing, and we have no doubt she is going to do incredible things!
