📸 Throwback Thursday – Malvern Schools History

We love when our Leopard family shares pieces of Malvern history with us! Today’s Throwback Thursday comes all the way from Mr. Petrarca in Carmel, Indiana.

🖤 The first photo is a class picture from around 1933. Franklin Harold Overton, a Malvern student who later gave his life in Korea in 1952, is pictured in the second row, second from the right.

🧡 The second photo is a completion certificate from 1916 for Linnie Overton (Williams), who was born in 1910. This certificate marked the completion of her early schooling right here in Malvern.

We’re so grateful to the family of Mary Alice Petrarca (Overton) for sharing these incredible glimpses of Malvern’s past with us. These photos remind us of the generations of students who have walked the halls of our schools and carried forward the legacy of Passion, Pride, and Excellence.

Thank you for sharing, Mr. Petrarca!

🇺🇸 Patriot Day – September 11

Today, the Malvern School District pauses to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We pay tribute to the first responders, service members, and everyday heroes who showed courage and sacrifice on that day and in the years that followed.

May we never forget, and may we continue to teach our students the importance of unity, resilience, and service to others. 🖤🧡

Mrs. Brigette Williams, the GT teacher and Beta sponsor at MES, and Emma Hine, a 5th-grade Beta member at Wilson, presented the exciting activities of our Beta Club to the PEO at their monthly meeting on Monday, September 8th! 🥳

Emma explained the significance of the four pillars of Beta: achievement, character, leadership, and service, to them. They also shared information about previous and upcoming service projects, as well as all the events and projects they are working on for Leadership Summit and the State Convention. We are so proud of our Beta chapter here at MSD! 🧡

This tradition wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors, and we are grateful for their continued commitment to our athletes and our community. Your generosity helps us build Leopard Pride both on and off the field. 🏈

Happy Monday, MMS Parents!

Tomorrow, your student will come home with picture proofs (if he/she took them in August). The proofs say that orders must be back to the school by September 7th to receive free shipping, but that date is inaccurate--the correct date is September 16th. Students should return to their science teacher. Make-up pictures will be taken on Thursday, September 18th.

Thank you!

The Malvern School District wants to share a HUGE thank you to the Malvern Rotary Club!!

They just donated $1,000 to the MES Clothes Closet — a place where our students can grab a fresh change of clothes whenever they need one. Whether it’s a spill, an accident, or just a rough day, this support makes a BIG difference for our kids. 🐆

Rotary has been giving to this cause for years, and their generosity continues to bless our Leopard family.

Please help us show our thanks to them in the comments! 🧡

Good morning, Leopards! We have some science fun for you from the Malvern High School 🔬🐆

Our Malvern High School Physical Science students have been hard at work building a strong foundation in science! Over the past three weeks, they have been learning and applying core scientific practices including lab safety, the scientific method, scientific notation, and metric conversions. 😁

This week, they put their knowledge into action through hands-on, station-based investigations—evaluating the best tools for measuring length, mass, volume, and temperature, and justifying their choices with evidence and reasoning.

These experiences are preparing our students to move from practicing science to truly thinking like scientists as they step into deeper studies of chemistry and physics. 🧪✨

📸 A few snapshots from today’s engaging class are attached below—thank you to Mrs. Carly Dassenko for sharing!

It is with heavy hearts that the Malvern School District announces the passing of our colleague, friend, and football coach, Mark Freer. Coach Freer was well loved by both staff and students. He was a true friend to everyone around him, and he dedicated himself to teaching lessons of character, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance to the students around him. His impact reached far beyond the confines of coaching and into the lives of countless students and families.

We extend our deepest condolences to his wife, children, family, friends, athletes, and colleagues. Coach Freer’s contagious personality will be missed by so many in the community, and he will always be family.

If you have special memories of Coach Freer, we encourage you to share them with us. If you have photos, please send them to us in a private message, and we will ensure they are passed along.

Grief counseling will be available for students and staff who may need support during this difficult time.
