🎨🚌 Field Trip Fun at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts! 🖼️✨
Last week, Wilson Intermediate’s Art Club had the amazing opportunity to explore the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts—and what a creative journey it was! 🎉
Our young artists dove into expressionism with the help of an expert tour guide, learning how action painting captures movement and emotion. They explored how cubism brings 3D forms to life on a flat surface, and reflected on the powerful role of symbolism in expressing culture and personal stories through art.
It looked like a ton of fun, and the kids seemed very focused! Just look at the concentration on their faces.. 👀
📸 Swipe through to see the future of fine arts in action!

🎉 Big News for Malvern High School! 🎉
We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Ritchie B. Holliman, Sr. has been named the next Principal of Malvern High School for the 2026–2027 school year! Currently serving as Assistant Principal at MHS, Mr. Holliman is already a beloved leader among our students and staff.
He shared with the community, “Student Success is my Mission!”
With 19 years of experience in education, Mr. Holliman brings a deep understanding of what it takes to help students thrive. Before joining the Leopard family, he worked in the Little Rock School District, but says it was during his interview with Malvern that he fell in love with our community. In his words: “This is a place of unpretentiousness and fairness.”
Born in Tennessee and raised in Illinois, Mr. Holliman graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School and jokes that it was “long ago.” Outside of school, he enjoys weightlifting and fishing with his family—a perfect balance of strength and calm.
His favorite quote is: “To thine own self be true…”—a reflection of the authentic, student-centered leadership he brings to our campus.
Something fun he wanted to share with us, “We as a group don’t take ourselves too seriously!”
Please join us in celebrating this exciting new chapter. We’re proud to have such a dedicated, grounded, and mission-driven leader continuing to shape the future of Malvern High School.
Welcome to your new role, Mr. Holliman! 🧡🖤

📣 Meet Our Newest Classroom Teacher at Wilson – Martha Demopoulos!
We’re thrilled to welcome Martha Demopoulos to a new role at Wilson Intermediate School as a Classroom Teacher!
For the past year, she’s served as a Kindergarten aide at MES, and will begin her 7th year in education next school year. Martha brings a beautiful blend of experience and heart to our district. She previously taught 1st grade in Frisco, Texas and has spent the past 23 years raising five children — a role she says taught her more than any classroom ever could.
Though originally from Texas, Martha says the Malvern School District holds a special place in her heart:
“All five of my children have gone through Malvern schools, and I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact it’s had on them. I’m passionate about giving back to the community that’s poured so much into my family.”
When she’s not teaching, Martha loves gardening, bird watching, reading, and yoga. Her favorite motto?
“Just Keep Swimming” – Dory, Finding Nemo
🐛🌱 Fun fact: Her kindergarten students are convinced she can grow dirt — thanks to her love of composting! It’s sparked plenty of curiosity about recycling, nature, and taking care of our planet.
Welcome to Wilson, Ms. Demopoulos! We’re so lucky to have you. 🧡🖤

📚 Meet Mrs. Ashley Nelson – Our New Library Media Specialist at MHS! 🐆
We’re thrilled to welcome a familiar face into a new role here at Malvern High School — Ashley Nelson is stepping into the position of Library Media Specialist after 17 incredible years as an English teacher at MHS!
With 19 years in education, Mrs. Nelson brings passion, dedication, and a deep love for learning to everything she does. Originally from Sheridan, Arkansas, she graduated from Sheridan High School in 2000 and began her journey in education with a dream — one that she’s continued to live out right here in Malvern.
“I came here as a young teacher with all the hopes and dreams of making a life for my family,” she shares. “I’ve stayed because the school is my home — and the best school for my two children to proudly graduate.”
Ashley is a proud advocate for reading and brings a personal story of resilience to her work: “I have dyslexia and had teachers who didn’t believe in me because I struggled as a reader. The ones who did help me are the reason I love reading and became a teacher.”
When she’s not at school, you can find her enjoying theater, cheering on her favorite baseball team, or getting lost in a great book. Her favorite quote says it all:
“It takes a big heart to shape little minds.”

Today, we ask that you join us in proudly recognizing incredible individuals who play one of the most vital roles in the daily success of our students — our dedicated School Lunch Heroes. 🍽️🦸🦸♀️
One of the most critical components of the infrastructure of Malvern School District is making sure our students are fed, happy, and healthy — things that every great scholar requires to be their very best.
Our bus drivers got their very well-deserved day recently, and today is just as important, because the two most critical things that make our students as great as they are are:
1️⃣ Getting our students in the doors safely, and
2️⃣ Making sure they have the fuel required to take on the day performing their very best.
These School Lunch Heroes love what they do, and they love knowing they’re helping take care of our students. More importantly, they take pride in knowing they are helping take care of your loved ones! They are in their lunchrooms, hard at work by 5 AM every morning, helping ensure all of us are ready to do our best. These wonderful people might just have the rest of us beat most days with such an early alarm clock! ⏰
From the very bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU so much, School Lunch Heroes. You meet our students with a smile every morning and the offering of a warm meal (plus a hug if we need it!).
Thank you for helping us #KeepOurLeopardsHealthy. We are so thankful for all of you. 🧡🐆

These leaders shape not only our schools — but also the future of our students, staff, and community. We are especially grateful to Mrs. Shnaekel, Mr. Bulhoes, and Mrs. McCormack, who will be leaving the Malvern School District at the end of this school year. Their impact will be felt for years to come, and we’re thankful for the time, energy, and care they’ve poured into our Leopard family. 🧡

🧡 Meet Mackenzy Harmon! 🖤
We’re excited to welcome Mackenzy Harmon to Malvern Elementary as a Special Education Paraprofessional!
Mrs. Harmon is originally from Glen Rose and a 2021 graduate of Glen Rose High School. She comes to us from Cornerstone Children’s Center, bringing with her a year and a half of experience working with children—and a lifelong dream of becoming a teacher.
She shared a few wonderful words with us about joining the team at Malvern Elementary:
“I couldn’t think of a better place to get experience than the school I loved as a child.”
When she’s not in the classroom, she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and their two dogs. Her favorite verse, Ephesians 4:32, reminds us to lead with kindness and compassion—something she brings to MES every day.
Mrs. Harmon shared that being at MES already feels like being part of a big family—and we couldn’t be happier she’s here. 🐆
