🎉 New Role, New Name, Same Heart for MES! 🐾
Please help us celebrate Michelle Holden, who is stepping into a new role as a 2nd Grade Teacher at Malvern Elementary School for the 2025–2026 school year!
You may know her as Ms. Michelle, a familiar face at MES since 2019 where she served as a 2nd Grade Paraprofessional. But starting this fall, she’ll be stepping into her very first classroom as a lead teacher — just in time for her 10-year class reunion (MHS Class of 2015)!
Michelle is a proud Malvern native, passionate about giving back to the community that shaped her. She says after her very first day as a paraprofessional, she knew she wanted to continue the journey to becoming a teacher — and now, that dream is a reality! 💫
When she’s not in the classroom, you can catch her reading a good book, gaming, traveling with her husband and son, collecting snow globes from new adventures, or helping coach the 5th grade volleyball team. She’s even known to express herself through fun hair colors — purple being her first bold choice! 💜
And one more fun fact: May 14th was her 28th birthday! 🎂🎈
Happy late birthday, Mrs. Holden — we’re so proud of you and excited for this next chapter in your journey!
She leaves us with a quote from one of her favorite books:
“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.” – J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

🎉 HUGE NEWS for Malvern School District! 🧡🐆
We are incredibly proud to announce that Malvern School District has once again been named a National Beta District of Distinction! This national recognition is a big deal — and we’re honored to share that we are:
🏆 One of only 8 school districts in the entire state of Arkansas to receive this award
🏆 One of just 78 districts nationwide
🏆 A three-time recipient — that’s three years in a row of earning this prestigious title!
This award is given to districts that offer National Beta in all schools and induct qualifying students in all eligible grades (4–12). It reflects our district-wide commitment to academic excellence, leadership development, and service involvement — and it highlights the outstanding work of our students, sponsors, and administrators at every level.
Our students truly live out the Beta motto:
“Let Us Lead by Serving Others.”
We’re grateful for the efforts of our Beta Club sponsors and district leadership for helping make this continued recognition possible. A special plaque and district award will be proudly displayed to represent this honor. A big thank you to Ms. Rush and Ms. Williams for all of their never-ending hard work overseeing our Beta program! You are all so awesome!
👏 Congratulations to our amazing Beta students and staff — your passion, pride, and excellence continue to make Malvern shine!

📣 Please join us in welcoming Mr. Greg Hughes back to the Malvern School District as our new Assistant Principal at Malvern High School! 🧡🐆
Mr. Hughes brings 29 years of experience in education, having served in multiple districts — most recently at Glen Rose. But this new role is more of a homecoming than anything else. Born and raised in Malvern, Greg is a proud Malvern High School graduate (Class of 1991) and previously taught at Wilson Intermediate for 16 years and Malvern Elementary for one.
His decision to return is rooted in purpose:
“I’m inspired by the opportunity to contribute to a school and community where the potential for growth, collaboration, and meaningful impact is not just a goal, but a shared vision.”
When he’s not at school, you might find him on the golf course, out hunting, or enjoying quality time with his family.
Favorite quote:
“Don’t ever take a fence down until you know why it was put up.” – Robert Frost
We’re thrilled to have you back, Mr. Hughes — welcome home!

📣 Please help us welcome Leslie Crutchfield as a new 3rd Grade English Language Arts (ELA) & Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) Teacher at Malvern Elementary School! 🐾
Ms. Crutchfield is no stranger to MES—she’s spent the last 11 years as a Kindergarten aide and is currently with us now. She is stepping into a new role as a classroom teacher during our 2025-2026 school year! A Malvern native and proud Class of 1995 graduate, she shared that her love for the community, the staff, and a desire to give back to the district that taught her so much inspired her to continue her journey here.
She enjoys reading, cooking, and cheering on Leopard Baseball and Football. Her favorite quote is:
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
Here’s something her students know right away: she loves chips and dip of any kind! Anytime the words “chip” or “dip” come up in a lesson, they whisper it and tell her to hold on to her seat!
During COVID, she joined our parade through town. Each teacher made a sign to put on their car—and hers said, “I love you more than cheese dip!” Her students definitely loved their little inside joke!
We’re proud to have Ms. Crutchfield continue making memories and building futures right here at MES! We are so happy to have you here with us. 🧡🖤

🎨🚌 Field Trip Fun at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts! 🖼️✨
Last week, Wilson Intermediate’s Art Club had the amazing opportunity to explore the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts—and what a creative journey it was! 🎉
Our young artists dove into expressionism with the help of an expert tour guide, learning how action painting captures movement and emotion. They explored how cubism brings 3D forms to life on a flat surface, and reflected on the powerful role of symbolism in expressing culture and personal stories through art.
It looked like a ton of fun, and the kids seemed very focused! Just look at the concentration on their faces.. 👀
📸 Swipe through to see the future of fine arts in action!

Though originally from Texas, Martha says the Malvern School District holds a special place in her heart:
“All five of my children have gone through Malvern schools, and I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact it’s had on them. I’m passionate about giving back to the community that’s poured so much into my family.”
